STADION

Anfield is a football stadium located in the Anfield area of Liverpool, England, and has been the home of Liverpool F.C. since the club's formation in 1892. With a seating capacity of 61,276, it is the fifth largest stadium in England. Originally, the stadium was home to Everton F.C. from 1884 to 1891 before they moved to Goodison Park following a dispute with the club president.

The stadium consists of four stands: the Spion Kop, the Main Stand, the Sir Kenny Dalglish Stand, and the Anfield Road End. The record attendance at Anfield, 61,905, was set during a match between Liverpool and Wolverhampton Wanderers in 1952. In 1994, the stadium was converted into an all-seater venue in accordance with the Taylor Report, which reduced its overall capacity.

Two gates at Anfield are named after legendary Liverpool managers Bill Shankly and Bob Paisley. Both managers are further commemorated by statues outside the stadium—Shankly's statue was unveiled in 1997 near the Kop Stand, while Paisley’s was unveiled in 2020 near the Main Stand. The stadium is located about 2 miles (3 km) from Liverpool Lime Street railway station.

In 2002, there was a proposal for the club to relocate to a new stadium in nearby Stanley Park. However, after Liverpool was acquired by Fenway Sports Group in 2010, it was decided that Anfield would be expanded rather than replaced. Work on the Main Stand expansion began on 8 December 2014 and was completed on 9 September 2016, making it one of the largest all-seater single stands in European football, increasing the stadium’s capacity to 54,074. Further redevelopment of the Anfield Road Stand, completed in 2024, increased the stadium's capacity to over 61,000.
